The 2010 IRACDA Conference will take place in historic downtown Boston on the Tufts University Health Sciences Campus. Lodging accommodations will be at the Courtyard Mariott Hotel, which is located two blocks away at 275 Tremont Street.  Program activities will take place at the hotel and in facilities located in the Arthur M. Sackler Center for Health Communications (145 Harrison Ave.) and in the Jaharis Family Center for Biomedical and Nutrition Sciences (150 Harrison Ave.)

The hotel is easy to reach from Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) by taxi or subway.  The taxi will cost $30-35 and should take about 15 minutes.  If you want to take the subway, you can take a free Massport shuttle bus from the terminal to the Airport Station on the Blue Line of the MBTA (mbta.com).  Once there, you purchase a “Charlie Ticket” for flat rate of $2.00 to travel anywhere on the subway.  If you expect to be using the subway more than once, you might want to get a reusable, rechargeable plastic Charlie Card, which saves money on the fares at $1.70/trip.

To get to the hotel, take the Blue Line inbound to State Street Station, where you change to the Orange Line.  Then take the Orange Line in the direction of Forest Hills three stops to Tufts Medical Center Station.  Upon exiting the station, go north (left) on Washington Street, then left on Stuart Street, finally turn left onto Tremont Street.  The hotel will be on your right.  The subway takes about 35 minutes from the airport.

Driving directions to the Courtyard Mariott hotel are on the hotel website. Overnight parking is available at the Tufts garage across the street for $34. The hotel also offers valet parking for $38/day.

There are lots of places to eat and things to do within walking distance of the hotel. If you want to explore other parts of Boston, the subway is the easiest way to get around.  For ideas, check out our Sackler Graduate School’s Campus and Community website, the Courtyard Marriott’s Visitor Guide, and the Best of Boston 2009 website.  YELP is also a great site for user reviews and recommendations of Boston’s top restaurants, shopping, nightlife, entertainment, services and more.  You can find some of our favorites here (link to Food and Fun page).
